Who Can Benefit From Dental Implants?

There are three primary groups of people who can receive dental implants.
The first  are people who are missing a single tooth. If the missing tooth is in the front of the mouth, it is typically a cosmetic issue, and a dental implant will return this person’s full smile. If the missing tooth is in the back of the mouth, it’s typically a functional issue. For example, these patients may have difficulty chewing food well. A dental implant is a great solution to replace the missing tooth in both instances. Unlike a dental bridge, which destroys the teeth on either side of the missing tooth, a dental implant permanently replaces the missing tooth without damaging the surrounding teeth and the dental implant acts just like a natural tooth in look, feel, and function.

The second  are people missing one or more teeth. The traditional approach to address this was to create a removable or partial denture or a long-span bridge. Both solutions tend to be uncomfortable and don’t last as long as dental implants. By contrast, dental implants offer a permanent solution to missing teeth. People with dental implants never need to remove their implants, and they act just like their natural teeth.

The third are people who are currently suffering from dentures, missing all of their upper teeth, lower teeth, or all of their upper and lower teeth. These people often cannot chew their food without discomfort, they often suffer from social embarrassment for fear that their dentures might slip or fall out. For these patients there are a few options. Dental implants can be inserted that allow the patient’s dentures to snap on to the implant so their dentures won’t be able to move or slip out of their mouth. An even more exciting solution that Fresh Start Dental offers is to put 4 to 6 implants in an arch, and permanently secure a full set of teeth that will not come out, and will look, act, feel, and function just like real teeth. This method of dental implant is a huge benefit because the roof of the mouth is unobstructed and chewing ability is returned to almost equal that of natural teeth, meaning much more types of food can be consumed with dental implants than with dentures.
